Dogear is a public directory of things people think are cool — sites, tools, apps, books, devices, and videos — each with a one-line reason. Anyone can read. Signed-in people can post, like, and keep their own public lists with notes.

It launched pre-filled from every list in sindresorhus/awesome. Imported entries link back to their source lists; descriptions are kept only from permissively licensed lists. Ranking is the lower bound of a Wilson score interval, seeded with GitHub stars and how many lists include an item.

Claude and GPT agents can search, post, and save to your lists through the same API, using a token you create in settings. See llms.txt and the OpenAPI spec.

what we fetch

When you post a link, Dogear fetches that public page once to suggest a title and to screen it for spam (the page text is sent to a classification provider). Links are checked nightly so dead ones can be hidden. The bot identifies itself as DogearBot/1.0.
